BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.— Earlier this month, the Montreat College softball team released the framework of its 2026 season schedule. With 26 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups and numerous four-game homestands on the docket, the Cavaliers anticipate an exhilarating campaign under first-year head coach Kelsey McCue-Long.
 
As they have the past two seasons, the Cavs begin 2026 by hosting the Cavalier Kickoff. This year's rendition of the invitational is slated for February 5-7. Following the event, Montreat heads to fourth-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College for its initial road action of the campaign.
 
After alternating play both home and away early on, the Cavaliers host consecutive doubleheaders on Feb. 20-21 against Johnson & Wales University Charlotte and Midway University. Just three days later, AAC competitions commence with a twin bill at No. 15 Reinhardt University.
 
The Cavs end February and kick off March with league doubleheaders in Black Mountain, N.C. First, Montreat battles Milligan University before squaring off against Tennessee Wesleyan University. That brief homestand sets up an extended road journey throughout the month of March. The Cavaliers clash with the reigning AAC Tournament champions, the Johnson University Royals, on the 6^th to start a 12-game road trip. Part of that stretch also features six contests down in the Sunshine State.
 
March concludes with home doubleheaders versus Bryan College and Spartanburg Methodist College. After hosting Union Commonwealth University at Roxy Hines Softball Field in early April, Montreat finishes out its home schedule on April 11 and April 14 against Carolina University and the University of Pikeville, respectively. The Cavs then close out the regular season on April 18 with a conference twin bill at Truett McConnell University.
 
With a solid showing in AAC play, the Cavaliers aim to be one of 10 teams that qualify for the 2026 edition of the conference tournament. This year's AAC Tournament is currently scheduled for April 27-May 1 at Brickyard Ball Fields in Kingsport, Tenn.
