JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.— The Montreat College women's golf team opened its 2026 spring slate on Monday and Tuesday by competing against a loaded field at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational in Jekyll Island, Ga. Playing a pair of rounds at the Jekyll Island Golf Club, the Cavaliers utilized scores of 375 and 383 to place 14
th out of 15 squads. Of those 15 programs, eight were ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Golf Coaches' Top 25, including three top-10 squads.
Day one featured 18 holes of golf for five Cavs. Montreat's team score of 375 left the program in 14
th when Monday's action concluded.
Reese Coltrane led the way for the Cavaliers, turning in one birdie and five pars for an 85, good for a tie for 58
th out of 87 participants.
Hannah Stewart and
Sara Rothrock also carded opening-round scores under 100. The former notched five pars and score of 91, while the latter registered a trio of pars and a 97 through 18 holes. Stewart found herself tied for 73
rd on the individual leaderboard after Monday. Rothrock entered the clubhouse in a tie for 79
th.
Abbey Coyle and
Chloe Peters ended round one back-to-back, with Coyle landing in 82
nd and Peters appearing in 83
rd. A pair of pars allowed Coyle to score a 102 during her initial 18 holes, while Peters delivered five pars and a score of 107.
Back in action on Tuesday, the Cavs tallied a 383 as a squad, bringing their two-round total to 758. Coltrane paced her teammates again, this time securing an 89 thanks to eight pars. The Lincolnton, N.C. native entered the clubhouse tied for 67
th on the individual leaderboard.
Wrapping up her tournament with three pars and a score of 92, Stewart also finished level with another golfer. By handing in a 183 for the week, Stewart closed out her play in Georgia tied for 77
th.
Rothrock, Peters and Coyle finished in succession individually across the two rounds. Turning in four pars, all of which came on the back nine, Rothrock's 105 saw her end in a tie for 80
th. Peters had the third-best 18-hole showing among the Cavaliers, racking up five pars and a score of 97 to conclude 82
nd overall. Coyle wrapped up the action for Montreat, shooting a 110 on Tuesday to place 83
rd.

The Montreat College women's golf team now takes a few weeks off before returning to competition on March 2-3 with the Golden Tiger Collegiate at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.
