Montreat College

Doug Cline was promoted to head cycling coach at Montreat College in August of 2025 after being hired as the program's interim head coach in April of 2025. He enters his second season with the Cavaliers during the 2026-27 academic year.

YEAR-BY-YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

2025

• Helped Clara Overholser win her first collegiate race at the SECCC MTB Season Opener (1st in cross country women’s C class).
• Coached Sarah McCallister to win the dual slalom women’s C category race at the SECCC Rumble at Rock Creek.
• Aided Lucas Zeringue to win the short track cross country men’s C race at the Lindsey Wilson MTB Showdown.
• Coached all three Cavaliers to notch a podium finish at the Collegiate MTB Challenge at Lees-McRae.

PRIOR TO MONTREAT
 Cline came to Montreat with a plethora of experience in the world of cycling. The Lynchburg, Va. native coached at the high school level across eight years in both California and South Carolina. Cline was also part of the core staff at the Georgia Cycling Association for four years. An active competitor as well, Cline has spent the past 20 years racing and participating in cycling events.
 
A graduate of Liberty University, Cline lives in Black Mountain, N.C. with his wife and their golden retriever. Together, the couple has three daughters.
