WALESKA, Ga.— For the second consecutive instance, the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) has named Montreat College student-athlete
Frankie Zavala as its Defensive Player of the Week. After taking home the honor previously for a five-save shutout, Zavala garnered his second career nod for piecing together a collegiate-best performance over the weekend.
Zavala and the Cavaliers played a pair of league matches last week. While Zavala made one save on Wednesday during a defeat versus Columbia College, his Saturday afternoon performance at Bryan College went a long way in helping him garner the weekly recognition.
Not only did Zavala secure a 1-0 clean sheet on the road, but he also registered a career-high 13 saves across 90 minutes of action. The La Union, El Salvador native surpassed his previous collegiate-best effort by two saves during the performance. The showing marked Zavala's second shutout in as many weeks.
