ACWORTH, Ga.— Montreat's women's golf team competed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Direct Qualifier held at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga. on Monday and Tuesday. The three-round tournament over two days saw six Montreat athletes compete. As a team, the Cavaliers finished eighth in the tournament out of eight teams.
The Cavaliers played 36 holes on day one and 18 on the second day of the event. The entire tournament saw a total of 43 competitors, and Montreat's best finish individually was
Reese Coltrane's tie for 29
th place.
Abbey Coyle finished in 35
th.
Hannah Stewart and
Torie Yeomans finished 38
th and 40
th, respectively.
Chloe Peters and
Sara Rothrock did not officially place on the leaderboard due to not playing the full 54 holes.
After the first round of golf, Coltrane led the Cavaliers with a 90. She had seven pars in her round to finish 18-over-par after the first 18 holes. Behind her,
Abbey Coyle shot a 93 with four pars.
Hannah Stewart concluded her round with a 95 and notched the only birdie in round one for Montreat.
Torie Yeomans scored a 98 with five pars, and
Sara Rothrock carded three pars in her 101 score for the round.
In round two, Coyle moved her way to the top for Montreat, shooting a 92 in her round. She had six pars across the 18 holes. Yeomans carded a 96, two shots better than her initial round. Coltrane added seven strokes from her first round with a 97, but she sunk the only birdie in the round for the Cavaliers. Stewart shot a 100, adding five strokes from her previous round. Montreat made a sub for the second round.
Chloe Peters played for Rothrock in round two. Peters shot a 115 in her round.
The final round on Tuesday ended with Coltrane on top for Montreat. She holed another birdie in her round of 92. Stewart finished with three pars in her concluding round to finish with a 95. Rothrock returned to action and played the final round, tying Stewart with a 95. Rothrock had nine pars in her 18 holes. Coyle shot a 99, Yeomans was right behind her with a 100. Both Coyle and Yeomans had three pars in their rounds.

With the tournament's conclusion, the Montreat women's golf team completed its 2024-25 season. The Cavaliers' best tournament finish as a squad came at the Fincastle Intercollegiate, where they ended second overall.
