MILL SPRING, N.C.— The Montreat College women's track & field team competed in its final meet of the indoor regular season on Friday and Saturday, taking part in the Tryon Mid-Winter College Invite in Mill Spring, N.C. The Cavaliers recorded 20 entries across 10 events over two days, highlighted by six top-10 finishes, four personal bests and one school record.
Friday's standout performance for the Cavaliers came from Jasmine Hernandez in the 600m. Hernandez placed fourth out of 18 competitors while clocking a personal-best time of 1:44.41, shaving more than three seconds off her previous mark. Natalia Nieto and Anna Baugh also delivered strong efforts in the event. Nieto secured a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:45.72, while Baugh followed closely behind in seventh, crossing the line in 1:46.49.
In the field events, Lydia Norman turned in an impressive showing in the triple jump, placing eighth out of 29 competitors. She recorded a mark of 11.05m, finishing just 0.01m shy of matching her personal-best performance.
Saturday brought more action for the Cavaliers as Elena Fibraio took the track in the morning 3000m race. The Mills River, N.C., native made her debut in the event and delivered a quality performance, placing seventh out of 21 participants with a time of 11:07.69.
Emma Barnes opened her Saturday in the 60m hurdles, delivering a stellar showing in a competitive field. She earned a top-10 finish, placing seventh out of 38 athletes with an official 60m hurdles school record time of 9.30 seconds. Later in the day, Barnes returned to competition in the long jump, recording a mark of 4.89m to place 26th among 46 competitors.
Hernandez followed up with another impressive performance in the 800m on day two, clocking a personal-best time of 2:26.22, more than four seconds faster than her previous mark. The time proved good enough for Hernandez to place 14th out of 51 competitors. Eliza
Nelson also turned in a breakthrough effort in the event, recording a new personal best of 2:39.40 and trimming more than nine seconds off her prior time.
In the field events, the Cavaliers were highlighted by a standout performance from Isis Rain Giron in the weight throw. She recorded a personal-best mark of 11.76m, surpassing her previous top throw by more than one meter. Izzi Ackerman also represented Montreat in the event, posting a throw of 10.76m.

The Cavaliers return to competition on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 19–20, as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.
