WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.— The Montreat College women's track & field team competed Friday and Saturday at JDL Fast Track, taking part in both the Camel City Sprints and Camel City Distance meets. The Cavaliers recorded 11 entries across eight events over two days, highlighted by one event win, four top 10 finishes, three personal-best performances and one season-best mark.
Friday's top performance for the Cavs came from Emma Barnes in the 200m. The Waxhaw, N.C. native finished 28th out of 68 participants in the event and came away with a new personal-best time of 26.56 seconds, topping her previous mark by 0.07 seconds. Barnes also competed in the 60m hurdles, ending 35th out of 45 athletes (9.63 seconds).
In the field events, Isis Rain Giron and Izzi Ackerman both participated in the weight throw. Giron threw 10.53m, good enough for 36th place in a 42-athlete field. Ackerman followed, finishing right after her teammate in 37th with a throw of 10.09m.
Saturday brought more competition for Montreat at the Camel City Distance meet, where Heather Murphy delivered the Cavaliers' top performance in the seeded 3000m. Murphy ran a dominant race, clocking a 9:40.89 to claim first in a 12-runner field. The Portarlington, Ireland native's effort stands as the 16th-fastest time in NAIA women's indoor history, just behind her 15th-fastest mark already on the all-time list. Her performance also ranks fourth nationally this season, alongside her third-quickest time recorded earlier this year. Carlyn Bobo competed in the open 3000m, turning in a strong performance with a 26th-place finish out of 47 runners. She crossed the line in a personal-best 10:36.03, shaving more than five seconds off her previous mark.
Macy Parks recorded a top-10 finish for the Cavs in the 1000m, placing fourth out of 10 competitors. She turned in a time of 3:03.39, finishing just 0.47 seconds shy of her personal best. In the 5000m, Aubrey Bahner added another strong showing for Montreat, securing eighth place in a 15-runner field. The Tabor College transfer notched a season-best 18:36.88 in the effort.
In the field events, Lydia Norman was the lone Cavalier in action, competing in the triple jump. She earned a top-10 finish with a 10th-place showing and set a new personal best with a leap of 11.06m, an improvement of 0.23m over her previous mark.

Montreat returns to action next Friday and Saturday, traveling to Tryon International for the final time this indoor season to compete in the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invitational.
