WAGRAM, N.C.— The Montreat women's golf team played 36 holes at the Deercroft Spring Break Invite in Wagram, N.C. on Monday and Tuesday as the Cavaliers competed in their first official tournament of the spring. Combining for a 2-round score of 759, the Cavs placed sixth out of six participating teams.
 
After 18 holes of action, Montreat sat in sixth as its four golfers combined for a 388. Senior Carmen Fraley paced the Cavaliers through day one thanks to a trio of pars. The Salisbury, N.C. native entered the clubhouse with a 25^th-place score of 93, four strokes ahead of two other Cavs.
 
Freshmen Hannah Stewart and Abbey Coyle each carded a 97 in their initial round of play. Stewart notched Montreat's lone birdie on day one, while Coyle tallied three pars as both wrapped up the first day in a tie for 28^th. Torie Yeomans rounded out the scoring for the Cavaliers with a first-round score of 101, good for 31^st place among the 32-golfer field.
 
The Cavs improved on their score with a second-round 371, which was powered by 16 pars and a pair of birdies. Each Cavalier golfer also registered a better score on Tuesday. Fraley led Montreat on day one, and she did the same on day two as she shaved seven strokes off her initial round to shoot 86, putting her in 24^th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Coyle whittled five shots off her score as she utilized a second-round 92 to finish 25^th overall. Stewart carded a 93 to end one stroke behind Coyle and one spot back on the leaderboard in 26^th. Meanwhile, Yeomans' garnered a 100 on her final round to place 29^th wrap up the tournament for Montreat.

The Montreat women's golf team concludes its regular-season slate on April 17-18 with the AAC Direct Qualifier at the Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
